I don't know what happened, I went for a jog today ... I think I hurt my knee b/c now I'm having a hard time walking.
Guess that means a break from jogging for awhile ...
*sigh*
too bad, huh?

Okay, sit back and relax b/c I've got a short and long story to share ...
First Story: Jogging.
This afternoon I decided to go for a quick jog around the neighborhood and savor the beautiful weather since it wasn't snowing. Although it was pretty cold, after a couple mintues of jogging I started to warm up. The funny thing is that this is my first time jogging after a snowfall ... and what I realized is that you have to be very careful where you step! Every so often I would run into a ice patch and have to gently walk across it ... imagine if I was running? Knowing me, I would have slipped and cracked my head open. So my "quick jog" ended up being a run/watch your step kind of thing ... but I still maintained my usual time, so I guess it went alright. Ah, my first experience running in Calgary after a snowfall ...
Second Story: Airplane Ride.
Yesterday I was remembering a time (maybe 2 yrs ago) when I was flying here to Calgary to visit my husband (back then - he was the 'boyfriend'). It was late after work, and it was winter so it was already quite dark. I boarded the plane, and was sitting in the very back row by myself ... now if you know me, i'm quite afraid of flying (my first trip to Calgary - I almost had a panic attack and got off the plane) ... so I remember sitting there praying that God would send someone to sit on the same row as me b/c I was all myself (i figured that it would relieve some of my anxiety) ... and sure enough someone sat on the same row so I was not alone.
Anyways, we were all set to go ... the engine started going ... and then ... you hear this loud noise and the engine suddenly goes quiet ... and then the lights go off! Now you can imagine how I must of felt ... panic !!! I was so scared ... at first the pilots didn't know what the problem was ... and it didn't help that you see a flight attendent run down the aisle ...
As I was sitting there in the dark ... I was clutching my bible with a death grip ... minutes felt like hours to me ... and my anxiety started rising and rising ... and then of course the flood of tears of fear finally came. Still at this point, we didn't know what the problem was ... and I was freaked out of my mind.
I remember praying and asking God - please get me off this plane and onto one that works!
Just my luck that I was on board with a sports team and the guys were like "hey man, imagine if that happened when we were in the air?"
Oh gosh, I just wanted to scream at them! I remember covering my ears so I wouldn't hear them talk anymore b/c it wasn't helping my fears. (( The guy sitting on the same row as me seemed so compassionate - I can see the look of compassion in his eyes when he saw the look on my face when I heard those guys say that ))
And then finally, after almost 2 hours of sitting there in the plane (in the dark) I couldn't take it anymore ... I prayed and I prayed and then I remember saying, "Jesus, I am so scared out of my mind I don't know what to do. There's this empty seat beside me, I'm going to turn on my side and imagine you sitting there and putting your arms around me to comfort me. "
After my prayer, I did exactly that ... I turned on my side (toward the empty seat) and imagined Jesus hugging me. I swear I felt Jesus then and there ... my anxiety was lifted ... and miracle of miracles at that exact moment the lights on the plane went on ... and a few minutes later it was annouced that the plane was fixed and we were good to go!
I have much to be thankful to my Lord, and this is just one of the many stories.

It's snowing in clumps right now ...
Dustin and Mike are wearing shorts and t-shirts here in the house ... I keep asking if they want something warmer ... but they say they are okay ... guess they are use to it ...
But me ... I'm in a sweater, pj pants and socks ... I'm super cold.
This Surrey-girl is still getting use to snow and cold here in Calgary-land.
I think I'm going to curl up in bed with my blanket and 2 comforters now ...

Kuya and Darleen's baby should be arriving in about a month ... it's the major topic of excitement in our family since we found out Darleen was pregnant.
I think a lot about my niece/nephew ... wondering how he/she is going to look ... what it will feel like carrying him/her for the first time ... how I know I'm going to cry when I have to leave him/her ...
The hardest part for me about living in Calgary is knowing that I'm not there to watch Lauryn and my niece/nephew grow up.
I love being a Tita ... it always melts my heart whenever I hear someone call me Tita or even Ate!
I can't wait for my niece/nephew to arrive ...
I think on my next trip home, I'm going to be selfish and when I'm carrying the baby ... I'm not going to let go (well, except for when he/she needs to be fed) ... I'm not going to let go of my niece/nephew until I have to go home!
So be warned!!

...hey, at least the roads aren't bad...
Anyway, the wife and I drove her new toy the other day - when the roads WERE bad.... and it performed great. Now I won't be so worried if she decides to go downtown to The Camera Store and buy me a new ROLLEI or LEICA camera (or both?).
So... I found out I gotta work from the 21st to the 27th of December - which means..... I'll be spending my wonderful Christmas at the Foothills Hospital ... YAY!!! Actually, it's alright I guess... time and a half = extra $$$ for the holidays- that's the compensation I guess.
see ya

Further to the husband's post below ... here is a picture is of some of our friends from our dinner.
We had been planning this dinner since our wedding, and since this is the first month that we have had no visitors from B.C. we thought Saturday was the best time to all get together at our house.
We spent the night eating (Can you believe I cooked?!?! And it was good too!!!! ...I'm not kidding! Well, I'm just as surprised as you!), we watched their grade 9 video year book (how come our high school never had that?), talked ...and then ate again. It was so much fun having the crew at the house ...
At the same time though it made me miss my friends from Surrey. On Saturday, I would listen to JC's friends reminisce and it made me realize that this was one of the first times that I've been in a crowd where I haven't known someone for almost 20 years ... strange, huh?
Well, here's to many more dinners ... it was a lot of fun, and I hope we can do it again !!
Hey Surrey! Can you believe I like to cook?! I've become quite domestic ... who would of known, huh? I miss you guys ...

(3) commentsThanks to the "crew" for coming by Saturday night for the Yepes Family pot-luck. Haven't seen you in a while and I hope that ya'll had as great of a time as we did....
Anyways... first freakin' snowfall of the year! .... first time shovelling the snow... first time seeing all the white stuff....
I was excited earlier 'cause we just got a new vehicle, but now I'm thinking "dang.... can't wear my Speedos outside anymore" - it's a little cold......
For all the folks who haven't been here in our humble abode in Calgary, we live on a hill with a moderate, but long incline... it's quite fun watching some cars/trucks/buses attempt to ascend when there's plenty of the "white stuff" on the street.
Tires are spinnin', but I ain't goin' nowhere ?!?
Cheers!

Late last night JC and I were watching a movie, and then all of a sudden I paused the movie b/c I thought I heard footsteps (more like faint banging) upstairs ... I knew Dustin and Mike were asleep so I was kinda scared. JC and I were wondering, "what's that noise?" ... I got kinda freaked out so I asked JC to turn on the house alarm ...
He went upstairs to check out what the noise was ... and me being the freaked out person that I am, got too scared to stay downstairs by myself, so I followed him ... what we discovered was ...
A bunch of police were banging on our neighbor's front door (hence the sound I heard) ... after awhile they broke the glass and in the house they went. JC and I had a great view of the neighbor's house from our living room, so were sitting there watching the police go from room to room ... it was kind of funny b/c one by one you can see our other neighbors turn on their lights to find out what was going on as well.
Well, we never did find out what happened & why the police raided the house ... last night they were there for quite some time and even this morning the house is still empty ... umnnn ... straight out of the show "Cops" or one of my favourite show's "Cold Case Files" (from A&E).

Well, today was my first thanksgiving as a Calgarian ... what did we do you ask? We went to Denny's !!!! Now I know some of you may think ... what the heck !?!? But it was super fun!
In the afternoon I went to Maria and Gavin's baby shower ... who by the way, conceived on our wedding day! (Ah, Shucks, how romantic, huh?!) I tease them that they should name the baby "Surrey" :) Maria looks beautiful and is just glowing! Gosh, I pray that I look that good whenever I get pregnant ...
Yesterday I was feeling a little sad about missing out on our annual thanksgiving dinners with the Losanez' and Faron's ... I think it's around the holiday's that I miss everyone the most ... I mean, I miss everyone everyday ... but more so on the holiday's ... but I think the key for me today was keeping busy, so I didn't cry like I thought I would ;)
Anyways, hoping you all had a great thanksgiving!
PS - I think i hurt my knee from jogging the other day ... this sucks!

... oh my gosh!
So today JC and I went jogging downtown Calgary ... boy was I tired! I'm a pretty slow jogger and my endurance isn't that great, so today I was a little concerned about keeping up with JC while we jogged. But actually I lasted a lot longer than I thought I would ... even JC was surprised!!! He thought I would burn out sooner than I did :) So .. yeah for me!
Well, maybe next time I can jog a little longer, but dang it ... jogging up hill is a killer!!!!
After our 3km jog we rewarded ourselves with .... sushi!!!

... i find it so hard to keep up with this whole diet and exercise thing. i can go for a long time exercising and dieting ... and then i skip working out once or twice and then it throws my whole routine off ... then you gotta start from from the very beginning again.
this sucks.
i wish it wasn't so dang hard for me. i gain weight so easily, and it's so dang hard to lose it.
grrr ...
well, here i go again... starting over ... again ...
oh well ...

for months, i would look outside our bedroom window at night ... see the city lights ... if it was early in the evening, i would even be able to see the rocky mountains ... as i looked out the window ... my heart would start to feel heavy and i would begin to feel sad ... so then i would close the blinds and walk away ...
for months and months, i would do this ... look out the window at night ... start to feel sad ... close the blinds ... walk away ...
it got to the point that at night, i would always have the blinds closed b/c the city lights would depress me ...
... and just last month, i figured out why i got so sad when i would see the city lights at night ...
when jc and i were dating ... during every visit close to the time where i would have to leave for b.c. ... i would stand by the window at night ... i would look out at the city lights knowing that i would have to leave soon ... this always broke my heart ... this feeling (of course) always followed with tears of sadness ... (which of course i always cried my last 2-3 days in calgary and then at least 3-4 days in bc when i got home!)
so last month, when i finally figured out that the night time city lights made me sad b/c of our separation when we were dating ... i had a long talk with jc and asked if a couple nights a week if we could drive around the city at night so that i would finally 'kick' this feeling away ...
the first night jc brought me out for a drive, he drove me downtown and showed me where we had our first dinner in calgary ...
since then, jc has driven me around the city countless times at night and now i don't feel so sad (well, only when jc is working nights) when i look out at the city lights at night ...
... the best part is that after looking at the city lights, i can crawl into bed and know that my husband is always there ...
... no more of this long distance stuff !!!
Thank you God !!!!!!
