The Man's first post....
The wife is sleeping and it's only 10:00PM here in Flames country. Now I'm alone... as alone as I can get from now on anyways - I meant that in a good way folks!
Here we are going on our 7th week of marriage... we've already surpassed (or more like "toppled") Britney Spears' tenure into married life. Now my reason for living has been fulfilled ;) Man, I'm toxic!
After funding the payroll of both Westjet and Aircanada over the past 2 1/2 years with our monthly trips to and from, it's nice to be home and really feel "home". There are still times though when I look at the Mrs. and I feel like I should be taking her to the airport - the bags are packed, the box of frozen Grade A Alberta Beef has been taped up silly for MamaNellie, and I feel like I've just been kicked in the ________ (fill in the blank). That feeling bites big time! The wonderful, fun filled 4 day visit is over... and we're on our way back to the airport again... it feels like my guts are hanging out and I'm tripping over my spleen...
So... sometimes I'll look at her and get this funny feeling as if my body and mind has been programmed for these 4 day cycles of elation and depression. "Shouldn't I be taking you to the airport?" I'd ask myself... "Shouldn't you be packed up - you know we have to go the airport an hour prior to departure, right?"...
I'd often have to remind myself that she's here to stay - and it's a wonderful reality. No need to schedule the next visit, no need to book the flights, there's no more "I'll have a Coke please" to the flight attendant, no more vacuuming the house prior to her coming (she helps with that now!)... The house is complete.. and now it's "home".
Long distance has been really good in hindsight. You don't take each other for granted - a coffee out is a time to cherish. You realize that fighting and bickering (mostly her not me - kidding) on the little things is just a waste of precious time. ***Caveat: I'm not saying we never disagree/argue...we do. Somehow I end up apologizing though - weird... yeah - you kow how it is guys :)*** You learn a lot from each other because the phone forces you to talk. While you're apart the heart "grows fonder" making the upcoming visit incredible. With long distance, you really reflect and focus on the values you both share and the quality of the relationship. And also, you get travel points each time you travel - now I can buy those movie tickets for 10,000 points... woohooo!
Seriously though, although there has been countless times over the past two years when we wished we didn't have to do this,we are greatful for this experience. We have been so thankful for what being apart has taught us about each other, ourselves, this relationship and about life. Are we then relationship pros? By all means, no. We'll still mess up, we'll still disappoint each other... but the long distance stuff, I feel, has made the two hearts fit. And they fit well.
Well, here's my first post here. For those of you who read all of it.... SUCKER!!!
IT'S ALL A LIE!!! NONE OF IT'S REAL!!!
Alright, alright...just kidding...
Good night all & Hello Surrey!

Hi all, The principles of Operation Christmas Child can be reflected by three simple, yet powerful, words - joy, faith, and compassion.
For those of you who are interested, Operation Christmas Child will be collecting shoeboxes filled with gifts for children November 13-20.
"Operation Christmas Child provides a practical way for Canadians to share the joy of Christmas and the hope of Jesus Christ with children living in countries that have been ravaged by war, famine, extreme poverty, disease, or natural disaster.
To learn more about how you can donate, click here for my Canadian family/friend's and for my US family/friends click here.
For my fellow Calgarian's ... check your local stores to see what specials they have for Operation Christmas Child. For example, the Dollar Store in Dalhousie ... if you tell them that your purchase is for Operation Christmas Child, you will receive 10% off.
God bless you on the beautiful gift of giving

Well, my surprise weekend was quite the surprise for everyone ... well, except my husband. He had an idea that I "might" be surprising him ... but that's okay b/c we had a really good time.
It was so much fun spending time with everyone, especially Isaiah!!
We had thanksgiving at Anne-Marie's ... which was so much fun b/c it was the first time in a few years the whole family was together ... our mom's were all so happy! We even had a group picture of all the ladies ... first, second, and even third generation! Our moms, ourselves, and Lauryn! My how time flies ...
Lauryn is all grown up now (as most of you already know since many of you see her quite often) ... she's no longer a "baby" but a little girl now. It's amazing to see how big she is ... and just how talkative! She's so beautiful ... I'm going to have to update the picture I have of her on my fridge b/c the one that I have (which is my favourite) is when she was a baby wearing a flower's girl dress the week before my wedding. Oh boy, she's all grown up now ...
JC and I also made some new friends during our weekend trip ... we met this lovely couple in the elevator from Germany ... and ended up spending the morning and afternoon with them touring Vancouver. It was so much fun. It is amazing how God sends people into our lives ...
Well, that's a brief update ... pictures to be posted in awhile ... gotta get through this week of exams and presentations and so forth ...
Have a great week everyone!!

Greetings everyone from ... S U R R E Y !!!!!
Yes, i surprised my husband, my parents, kuya & daryeen yesterday afternoon ... after school i took a flight out to Vancouver ... rented a car ... and voila c'est moi!!!
When i knocked on the door to my parents house my dad thought i was somebody trying to sell them something ;) My parents are super happy that I am home ... of course so am I ... my mom couldn't stop hugging me ... they are so happy.
So while my husband is finishing up his conference downtown, I am spending the morning and afternoon here in Surrey ... I am trying to study for an exam I have on Tuesday, but I am having too much fun playing (more like teasing and annoying) with Isaiah. My nephew doesn't know me, so it's so much fun bugging him ... I think I'm going to have to put a picture of myself by his bed so that he knows who I am ;) I am so happy to be with my nephew!!
Tomorrow we have a very special dinner at Anne-Marie's ... it will be the first time in many years that the 3 families will be together and that we will be complete ... Anne-Marie and I are planning on having a group family picture done of all the kids ... the last time we had this done was the week before JC and I got married ... and well, now we have Isaiah and Tyson, so it's time for another family picture.
Well, gotta get off here and bug my nephew ... my parents are Isaiah's hero today b/c they keep resucing him from me ;)
... STEPHO'S HERE WE COME !!!!!

... you ever have that feeling when you are reading a bible passage, and it just speaks to you? well, for me, i felt like today's "daily bread" reading was telling me something: On May 2, 2003, my daughter Melissa's high school paid her a great honor by dedicating its new athletic field in her memory. At the ceremony to mark the opening of the Melissa Branon Memorial Softball Field, the school unveiled a stone marker to remind future generations of the girl who wore number 11. On that marker is etched: "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love" (Eph. 4:2 NIV) - a verse Melissa had marked in her Bible. So often in life, the words humble and gentle don't seem to belong. Instead, the words pride and harshness mark the way success is measured. Yet Melissa and her friends were able to compete successfully in high school athletics without displaying either of those characteristics. One of Melissa's teammates wrote of her: "The way you never backed down, always kept going, and never gave up totally inspired me." That's how she and her teammates played for God's glory—without arrogance. Competition, handled properly, can have its place in our lives. But we should always remember to be humble and gentle in everything we do. We must reflect the characteristics of a Christlike life. True greatness does not come to those Be humble and you will not stumble.
* * *Ephesians 4: 1-3
Unity in the Body of Christ
1As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Who strive for worldly fame;
It lies instead with those who choose
To serve in Jesus' name. - D. De Haan
... last night instead of listening with an open heart and an open mind, i was being scared and prideful ... when really i should have been humble and thankful that my husband was steering me in the right direction.
i should not allow my fear to overrule what is right ... sometimes it's overcoming that fear that makes us stronger.

As I sit here looking outside my living room window with a warm cup of coffee, I am thinking about ...
1) ... my husband
2) ... how the roofs of our houses is tinted with a tad bit of snow ... which of course means, Christmas is coming according to my guys when they see snow ;)
3) ... i love a warm cup of coffee first thing in the morning, especially when it is chilly out
4) ... there is a nice sale at Walmart on bathroom tissue paper ... and it's the good kind, you know the double-ply
5) ... i wish i could wear my pj's to school
