(0) commentsOkay, here's the story ... in case you guys wanted to know about my L&D (labour and delivery). I went into labour about 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning. At first I wasn't sure if it was true contractions ... so I started timing it around 2am and when i noticed a pattern, and after some internet research ... I finally woke up JC at 4am. It was rather cute, b/c at first he thought he was late for work.
So after having a talk with JC, and my fear that it might be false labor pains ... we decided to go the hospital just in case.
At around 5am, I was admitted into the hospital ... much to our joy b/c I was MUCH farther along than I thought ... and to the surprise of the nurse who was taking care of me.
The above picture is of Love and I after I was admitted and we were in the labour & delivery room. This is of course in between contractions.
Now this picture is of me during one my contractions. I don't know if you can tell ... but I had a very BIG tummy, I gained a little over 40 lbs.
Anyways, I ended up pushing for about 2 hours ... but technically "good" pushing was for about an hour. AND no, I did not push while sitting in that chair ... but I don't think I'll post those pictures on the internet ;)
JC and I did a lot of joking and fooling around - i think this helped out a lot to keep the atmosphere light. We have some funny pictures ... in between contractions of course :)
I am truly so thankful to God for a safe and good delivery ... and also to my husband who stood by my side through it all. Through each contraction he held my hand, massaged my back ... and really kept me calm.
There was one point when Eli's heart rate dropped and the doctor and the resuscitation team were called in. I remember looking at JC with such fear that I gave 2 really BIG pushes ... and Eli was born.
Our baby girl was born at 1.21 p.m. I still remember when she came out and JC turned to me to tell me we had a 'girl'. I of course immediately started crying ...
The above picture is of Eli and I - as I held her for the first time.
Eliana is truly such a blessing from God. Now everyday, I thank God not only for my husband, but my daughter as well.
Wow, I can say, "my daughter" ... I'm finally a mom!!

God blessed JC and I with an early Christmas gift.
Eliana Elise was born on December 20th at 1.21 p.m.
I am so proud to say that she looks just like her dad ... and she already has her dad wrapped around her little finger.
I feel so blessed to have a beautiful healthy daughter and an amazing husband.
Thank you God for all your blessings.

So, I haven't had the baby yet in case any of you are wondering. I'm not due until the 24th, but we were hoping for baby to arrive earlier. But baby will arrive when he/she wants to I guess.
Yesterday we had our company christmas party ... it was so much fun. I don't think i had been on my feet for that long of a period in such a long time ... it's a good thing I borrowed my mom's slippers to use in the hotel - otherwise i would of gone bare foot within 10 minutes of the party. I think the best part was when the residents, staff, and guests were dancing ... and yes, even I broke-it down for a bit. It's quite the scene seeing a 9 month pregnant woman shake her (large) booty and tummy on a dance floor ... but at least everyone had a good laugh out of it.
Oh, by the way, my mama is in town. She arrived on Friday ... and it's been busy with Christmas shopping, cooking, and getting everything ready for the baby. Honestly, I'm lost w/o my mama. She's been such a big help ... and baby hasn't even arrived yet. I can't wait till my dad arrives ...

so it's 2.21 am.
and i'm still awake.
but i've got good reason.
for the first time, it's not b/c i have a paper to work on or worried about work ... it's b/c i'm too excited and wired at having written my very last exam!!! this evening i wrote my last exam in a LONG time.
as i think i've mentioned before, i'm taking next semester off ... and going to enjoy my husband and our baby.
so what have i been doing the past few hours since jc went to bed? i've been playing on the internet and responding to emails that have been sitting in my in-box for the past little while.
ah, it feels good not to be pressured or stressed.
but i really should get to bed b/c i have a long and busy day tomorrow.
yeah me! i'm done school ... for now!

This morning i had an ultrasound to check on the baby ... and so far everything seems to be okay. I'm attending my weekly doctor appointments now ... and so basically anytime now Baby is ready to arrive ... but expected date of arrival is Christmas Eve still.
The pictures of the ultrasound is so adorable. I cannot stop staring at them. Baby is super chunky with plump lips ... cute button nose ... and biteable cheeks. I'm calling our baby "chunk-a-licious".
Unfortunately, the place where I went do not have their pictures on cd's only print-outs ... otherwise I would post these adorable chunky pictures. Oh well ... y'all (and myself included) will have to wait to see the real thing.
Ah! I can't wait!

I am officially finished all my classes! I have only one exam next week ... and i am off school until September!!!
Woo-Hoo!!!

... it's 1:43 a.m.
I have this strange feeling that now that school is winding down ... i'm going to be blogging more often ;)
Anyways, I'm just printing out my assignments that are due tomorrow ... and then I "think" I'm going to try to lie down and sleep. But somehow I doubt it.
I cannot wait for school to be finished already. Oh my lanta! Just one more week to go! And then I'm off for a LONG time! Actually to be honest, I haven't had time off school since last Christmas. I've been going to school full-time since the beginning of January ... so it's nice to have some time to myself ... no more papers ... no more exams ... oh thank you God! But I will have to get back into the swing of things in September.
Today our crib and dresser was delivered ... and JC set it up this evening ... and oh my, it looks adorable! I'm hoping to go to Ikea next week to purchase some wall decorations ... I cannot wait for our baby to arrive (but I'm slowly starting to get anxious about the whole labour part).
Well, for some reason I'm having problems printing the rest of my assignment ... but I'm too tired to figure out what is wrong. I'm going to lay down now ... hopefully I'll be able to sleep.

As of today, I am officially 37 weeks prego! Woo-Hoo!!
Well, i've got a lot to update but i've got homework, so here's a quickie update:
School
Well, school is almost done. Thank God! I had a really tough semester with work and school ... and being prego. My husband was right, I should have taken less classes - it was just too hard. But I'm blessed b/c I had a lot of support and luckily my grades are still good.
After much thought, I've decided to take next semester off. I thought about even taking one on-line course, but I thought I should listen to my husband this time ... b/c dang it he was right the first time. JC suggested to take the January semester off and take some time to myself and our baby (this time I'm going to listen to his suggestion). I only have approximately 4 classes left till I am finished my program anyways ... and I've been blessed to go full-time up until now.
I'm a little sad that I won't be graduating with the rest of my class, but at the same time, happy to take a nice break from school ... it'll be interesting going part-time.
Christmas
I finally finished decorating the Christmas tree. So the garland is up on the banisters, the Christmas tree and lights are all set ... all that's left is a few gifts and the wrapping. Oh and the Christmas cards!!! Oh my ... maybe I should just send e-cards, eh?
Baby
Well, like I mentioned - I am now 37 weeks prego. I am now visiting the doctor on a weekly basis. I feel as if the baby has dropped b/c I can breathe better ... i'm in the bathroom even more ... and my tummy even looks different (well, to JC and I anyways).
Our prenatal class was a lot of fun. Our teacher was hilarious and made the experience so much fun. Part of me wishes she was the one delivering our baby! Anyways, I never knew there was so much that JC could do to help me through the labour process and delay the usage of medication. God willingly I will have a good labour.
Also, we are having our crib and dresser delivered tomorrow. I'm so excited! I've got all the baby clothes washed ... and currently sitting in the play pen the Palma's and Faron's bought us. I followed Anne-Marie's suggestion and put all the clothes into piles of months i.e. 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months etc to make it easier. I'm almost finished packing my overnight bag (it's currently sitting by our garage door for a quick get-away) and our car seat with blankets and warm-cover is all set to go.
I've been sleeping a lot during the day now b/c I'm up in the middle of the night for hours b/c our baby likes to kick from 11pm - 2am non-stop (not that i'm complaining b/c I like it when the baby kicks) ... so I usually sleep when the baby is sleeping as well ... which is usually from 8:30am to whenever. However, sometimes the baby likes to kick all day and all night (so that's even less sleep) ... oh my lanta, this is a hyper baby ... just like his/her dad ;)
Well, I think it's time to finish up some homework. So until my next blog update ...
