Do you think Kuya and Darleen's baby is going to be a boy or a girl?
I'm still hoping for twin baby girls ... even though the ultrasound shows only one baby ... Love and I joke around that the other baby is just hiding behind her sister ;)

When you move from your childhood home (Surrey) to a new place (Calgary), one cannot help but make many comparisons. Today's comparison will be "driving" ...
Now I'm not saying that one place is better than another, BUT there are some differences ...
Let's start off with roads ... Holy Crap! The roads here are HUGE!!!! Compare Calgarian roads to our roads in Surrey - dang! There's so much space here!
Next off, speed & road rage ... okay, so my first time driving here I got honked at ... maybe b/c I'm not that much of a fast driver (okay honestly, I'm an old lady when i drive)... but I've slowly learned that people here not only drive a lot faster but they get angry a lot more than back home ... at least back home, people just honk at you, but here - they honk, stare, yell, finger ... yikes!!!
Traffic ... now this is my favourite!!! I find it funny how some people complain at how their traffic is about 45 minutes from home to work (but JC always reminds me though that people are just not use to traffic like we are) ... I must always remind myself not to complain about traffic here b/c this is nothing compared to BC - I remember one day it took me 2 hours to get from Surrey to Richmond ... 2 hours!!!
HOV Lanes ... I don't think there's any here ... if there are, I haven't seen any ... imagine living in a city where at this point, there's not a high need for HOV lanes? Wow ...
Well, one of the things that I've learned about driving here is not only drive faster, but if you can drive in Richmond or downtown Vancouver - I think you can drive just about anywhere ;)

I'm not the type to gripe about my age ... it doesn't bother me how old I am since I rarely act my age ;) ... but some days I feel my age.
Today is one of those days.
Recently I found Jamille's blogger site - so I've been reading on how she's been doing and what's going on in my old high school (oh gosh, soon it will be my 10 year reunion - that's another story to be discussed later). It's so much fun reading Jamille's blog site (kind of reminds me of when I was in high school).
And then I today, I discovered Joanne, Jenny and Christopher had blog sites too! So here I am reading on their blogs (how can you tell I have time when my husband is working nights?) seeing what's new with their school, work and other stuff ... and to my utter amazement I felt old!!!
When did these kids all grow up? I still remember the days when Chris and Jamille were born!!! Goodness, I was even the flower girl (Rodney was the ring bearer) at Chris's parents wedding!!! Their no longer kids, but teenagers and adults - and their dating!!!!
Now I know how Kuya, Nicky, Randy and their friends felt when Anne-Marie, Alona and I started high school ...
It amazes me at how fast time flies ... one day your holding the baby in your arms and the next your reading their blogs about dating! ... soon I'll be hearing about the weddings!!!
When did everyone grow up?

Wooohoooo!!! It's been a week with the new SUV and it rocks! We bought the Granite Edition Pilot... no frills type of Pilot. Doesn't come with the "luxury" type stuff like leather, automatic climate control, heated seats and a couple of other things, but it's also some bills cheaper than the other model. The Granite edition is basically the same as the EX-L model though.... same engine, tranny, all wheel drive...
It's dang roomy inside - unlike my little Nissan pick-up.
Anyways, this is Kim's new toy. The lady can't drive stick so I guess that means the Nissan's automatically mine.
Can't wait to take it out to Banff... and for the first time... I'm actually waiting for the white slippery stuff to hit the ground. So there you go folks - a picture of Kim's new toy!

1. We bought a Honda Pilot last week ... what a difference it is from the truck we have now! We are able to fit 7-8 passengers now ... including a baby seat ;)
2. It's SNOWING!!! This morning I woke up and got the boys ready for work ... and then as they were going out the door I noticed ... oh my gosh ... it's snowing!!!!
3. CONGRAD'S to Florian and Ron (Florian is my elementary school friend, and one of my bridesmaid's at my wedding) - they were engaged over the weekend and to be married next July 2005!!!!

My Mom arrived this evening from BC ... she's only been gone for less than 2 weeks, and she's back again! I'm so excited!! I wish my dad, kuya and Darleen could have joined her, but I'll just have to keep nagging them to come.

Also arriving tonight is our Ninang Mel from New Jersey!

The above picture was taken at the Calgary airport before Christine left to go back to B.C. She came to visit Love and I for a couple days earlier this week.
It was so much fun!!! Christine is like my sister and we've been childhood friends for approximately 22 years (whoa!) ... so having her visit us meant so much! It was great being able to share our life with her and to spend quality time (of course our quality time was spent talking during shopping, eating or having coffee/tea some place).
I've spent more time with Christine the past year since Anne-Marie's wedding, than the last 6 years since she moved to Ottawa (we're making up for lost time). Last spring Christine moved back home to BC, and then I moved to Calgary! Ninang Luz and Tita Lu were saying last spring, "one daughter is coming home, but another daughter is leaving".
I had so much fun with Christine during her brief visit here, that Love and I kept bugging for her to come back in the spring with Vince... hopefully they'll come to visit soon.
Ahh! We're already dreaming of all the different restaurants to bring them to!!!

Every day Love and I read Our Daily Bread along with a passage in the bible. It's a wonderful way to start and end the day together.

The late Fred Rogers, creator and host of the much-loved children's television program Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, had a special understanding of his ministry and his work. We may feel that work is secular, but view leading a Bible study as spiritual. The Bible draws no such distinction, however. Paul instructed Christians to work "not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ" (Colossians 3:22-24).

Started running again this week... gonna try and do it at least every other day. Since the wedding, I can't exactly say that I haven't worked out though... my arms have toned a bit since starting heavily on the new 12-1/4 diet three months ago - 12oz steak on my left and a McDick's Quarter Pounder on my right (medium rare and with lots of ketchup respectively).
What happened to the glory days? What happened to the rock hard abs and the 40"vertical? What happened to the days when jogging meant a warm up of 30 minutes not a maximum of 3? What happened to the days when going "skins" in b-ball wasn't that bad? Seriously though, folks... us men (and, yes, you women) have all said, at one time or another, "What the hell happened!?". "I used to jog 4 miles not 4 meters", "I used to do push ups on my toes not on my knees", "I used to be 97lbs" - yeah, when you were 10yrs old!
.... What happened to the glory days?
You see... there used to be resistance when I put my hands on my waist. Okay, okay... I'll be honest... I never really had the "rock-hard" abs, but it wasn't exactly the same consistency as jello either! For all the guys reading this - give this a shot....
1. Put the palms of your hands on your waist (not on your hips - your hips are freakin' bone ... of course it's hard!)
2. While keeping your left palm attached to your left waist, use the other palm to give a gentle, but firm tap on your right waist.
3. If you're like me, then you should feel your left palm jiggle as the resonating waves travel across the sea of subcutaneous lipid of your stomach.
Neat thing with this folks is that it works the other way too - if you tap with your left, you can feel it with your right hand!
Don't worry guys and gals, I'm not complaining... weight or no weight - I GOT THE GIRL!!!

Well, my parents left early this morning for the long drive back to B.C.
Their trip here seemed so short and so filled with activities. If dad wasn't fixing something and mom wasn't in the kitchen, we were out and about the city.
Last night JC's parents were over until about midnight and my parents and I were up until 2am talking and sharing ... it was such a fun trip. Last night when I layed down I couldn't sleep until almost 4am thinking and feeling a little sad that my parents had to go.
Sometimes I wish I could keep my parents here in Calgary, but then what about my kuya in B.C.? ;) I think it's only fair to share. Also with Kuya's baby coming, there's so much fun and joy to be shared ... my parents are going to be in heaven with the baby. Lucky baby!
I'm actually amazed that I didn't cry this morning, but it took quite the effort and all day I've been holding back the tears ... I'm sure when it hits me later I'll be a basket case full of tears ... but I'm so thankful to God that I was blessed with so much time with my parents.
We're already planning for my parents next trip out ... I can't wait!!!
