A couple days ago, the husband and i had another "date day". We went to Lake Louise, Emerald Lake (in BC) and Banff.
We spent most of our day at Lake Louise - we decided to walk across the lake - it took us about an hour to walk across and back (including the time taking pictures). We thought - hey why not? we've never done that before, and now we can say we walked across Lake Louise! After our walk, we had lunch at the lounge looking over the frozen lake ... spent our time talking, laughing and of course eating!
We then decided to drive into BC to Emerald Lake ... JC was joking that 9 more hours of driving and we would be in Surrey ;) This was the first time we both had been to Emerald Lake in the winter ... I must say, it's much more beautiful in the summer where the lake really does hold the emerald color.
And then in the evening we went to Banff where we walked around and had our dinner.
It was the first time that we had a "Date Day" like that out of town where we were out ALL day long. I think this was the first time we had been out all day since before we were married. It was loads of fun, and I hope we can do that again soon.
I love these "date days" ... and the beauty of it is that it doesn't end at the front door step (or in our case at the airport) ... I love knowing that at the end of the day, I have my husband by my side ... thank you God for no more airport moments!!

(1) commentsI was reading some of my old posts from when I first moved here ... gosh, it seems so long ago ... after reading the posts it made me feel a little home sick for my family back home. I came across this picture of Anne-Marie and I on the night that we were saying bye to each other ... how can you tell that we were crying? :)
In a few months it'll be our one year anniversary as a married couple and for me as a Calgarian ... time seems to fly. Next thing I know, Isaiah will be going on dates umnn ... I can't wait to see Kuya's face when Isaiah starts dating and coming home late ...

(0) commentsLast week I attended a really good service at church about Relationships ... one of the points made was from Eph 4:26 "In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry" ... one of the things JC and I made sure was that we would never got off the phone or went to bed with a heavy heart. It's actually something I also did as a young adult with my parents ... I couldn't even leave the room if my parents were upset with me. I use to always talk and talk with mom and dad until I knew we were not upset with one another.
This bible verse is one of many to really live by ... I could not imagine going to bed upset or angry. If ever I have a heavy heart I always talk to my husband or if he's at work I call my parents back home ... sometimes it's just a voice that I need to hear to lift my spirits, or for my husband to say "it's alright".
It's amazing what a difference your heart feels if you go to bed upset versus going to bed with a situation resolved and with an uplifted heart.

(0) commentsI don't know why, but it's always such a struggle for me to wake up in the mornings. I'm not a very morning person ... I can press the snooze button about 10x's and still be grumpy when I get up. It's especially hard for me to get up when it's cold out and all I want to do is snuggle in my warm bed.
I think the hardest part is the "getting out of bed part" ... I always say - my favourite part of the day is climbing into bed for a nap or to sleep (my 2nd favourite part of the day is eating).

So I'm not big on Valentines Day ... why you may wonder? I feel that everyday should be treated like Valentines Day! Does that mean your spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend/partner/"friend" only buys you gifts or bring you out some place special on Valentines?! Dang! That should be everyday!! (or least every other day!)
What did the we do on our first Valentines as Mr. & Mrs.? We went out for breakfast, walked around the park (it's a little chilly here from the snow), and then to Indigo. Oh and guess what I got as a gift?! My current favourite movie, "The Notebook" ... if you haven't watched it ... go see it!!!
Hope you all have a Happy Valentines with your loved ones ...

Last night we watched our wedding video with our Ninong and Tita from the Philippines ... I don't know why - everytime I watch our wedding video ... i still cry! It's so strange ... it's almost a year, and I still get so emotional over it.
I run through my mind all the emotions of the day ... especially my Kuya crying ;) ... and I get so teary-eyed over the day.
Umnn ... that reminds me - I still haven't sent our thank you cards yet ... I know awful, huh? But some girls that I spoke to have been married for years and haven't sent theirs out yet ... okay - so I don't feel so bad anymore ;) Okay ... okay ... I'm just making up excuses ... *sigh* I'll get off my butt and send them out ... before my one year anniversary ;)

It amazes me how fast the day goes ...
I have a million-and-two things on my mind that i need to get done before JC and the boys get home from work ... and I feel like I haven't even got to item # 3 on my list!!
Sometimes I wonder ... where did my day go? I know I got things done, but then I feel like I was unproductive ... but oh well.
Well, out the door I go again ... hopefully I'll be able to get more stuff done before my boys get home.

Hello world ----> (or at least B.C. & Alberta - haven't tapped into the other provinces yet)!
Been a while since I wrote in here - so here goes....
The wife and I are going on a trip this spring. The flights have just been purchased (thank you oh Visa!) and at this moment, Kim's filling out the forms for our rental apartment. Where are we going you ask?.... Prague...
Yep... the home of Dominic "The Dominator" Hasek for all you NHL nuts out there. I'll make sure to represent and take the man out for coffee....
"Why Prague?" you may ask.... well... it's one of the cities that I, personally, have always wanted to visit. I've always been curious since I first saw pics of the place - and it didn't take long for the wife to be convinced once I showed her a couple guide/tour books. As many of you know - we love the history & architecture of places and Prague has plenty of both.... oh... & beer! Jokes only.... neither of us drink, but apparently Prague has great beer!
We'll be doing the apartment thing again.... the one we picked out is located within only a few minutes to almost all the major sites. If anybody out there is thinking of going anywhere... I'd recommend renting an apartment. If not the same price of a decent hotel, it's only a few extra $ more. An apartment will give you a kitchen, a larger living space, usually a larger washroom and sometimes even a washer to wash your clothes and/or a microwave & fridge. If you plan on staying in a city for a number of days and if you want to "pretend" to live in the city you're in - definitely look into this....
So...off we go late April - we'll be celebrating our first year anniversary there (although the we're back in Canada for the actual day - May 9th oh.. I meant May 8th .......hehehe - if she reads this she'll Bobbitize me - "snip, snip")
Well folks - ya'll like that... "folks".... don't I sound Canadian ;)
Anyways... God willing - the trip will go through!
Take care, j
