my thoughts for the evening ...

In everything that I do, I try to do it for our Lord. I always try to live my life and every action and thought for Him ... one of the things that I do, is that in every person that I meet - I imagine that person is Jesus ... so I always try to treat them with utmost respect, compassion and love ... maybe this is one of the reasons why I am not fond gossip, slander or hatred about other people ... b/c each person is my Jesus ...

The gifts that we may give
And deeds that we may do
Most truly honor Christ
When self is given too. D. De Haan

Giving is the true measure of love.

My Girls

... this photo of Alona, Janice and I was taken last year, a couple days before I moved to Calgary

... there's something about being close friends w/ people you've known all your life ... I've known Alona since grade 1 and Janice since high school

... I always joke that we're like the girls on "Friends" ... you can figure out yourselves who is Monica, Rachel and Phobe :)

In the summer we had a mini-reunion ... by complete coincidence both Alona and Janice (along with their men) were in Calgary at the same time ... so we were able to get together for coffee and dessert ... gosh, it was so much fun !!

Looking forward to the next mini-reunion with my girls ...

Almost There

I can't believe I'm almost done my first semester at school ... just a few more weeks to go

To be honest, it wasn't as bad as I thought ;) Well, maybe b/c I've been getting so much support - my husband has been helping me with my writing skills (i don't think i would of gotten A's on any of my papers if it wasn't for his help) ... my in-laws and my parents have been helping me out at home when i have to leave early or come home late due to school ... and I guess it helps out a lot that i'm really enjoying my program

I'm praying that I get a couple scholarships, that would really help out a lot ... plus the recognition of a scholarship would be amazing! Who would of known ?!?!

I'm also slowly decorating our house with Christmas decorations. Every day I try to put one decoration up ... the guys LOVE it! The first day, I put the wreath on the front door ... when they came home ... they were so excited they were yelling :) Then yesterday, I put the garland on the bannister ... again when they came home I heard more yelling :) ... this weekend we'll put the Christmas tree up ... and then I'll slowly put the gifts under the tree (i've been hiding them in our room for the longest time!) ... I hope to have all my decorations done by the time my exams are over ...

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

We can be young in heart and mind,
To others we can yet be kind,
Sing songs of praise to God through tears,
And grow in grace through all our years. Zimmerman

What you will be tomorrow depends on the choices you make today.

a christmas wish list

... i've been asked what i want for christmas ... and to be honest, i really do not need anything ... yeah, sure there's some items i would 'like' ... but it's not necessary items ... they are just "fluff" items ... meaning, sure it would be nice, but i could live without ...

i have to be honest, and i don't know why, but it's embarrassing for me to say ... but i would rather have donations to charities rather than gifts for myself

i was researching people's "wish lists" from various agencies in calgary ... and want to know what are on some people's "wish lists" for christmas?

- toilet paper
- pens/pencils for school
- school bag
- tooth brush
- hygiene products
- socks
- shoes
- food
- toys

these are just a few items that i found ... but something as simple as toilet paper is on a person's wish list for christmas ... meaning, basic everyday items people are wishing for - that they don't have

God has blessed me with so much ... in my own opinion, i feel that i have everything i could ever need ... i have a loving husband, we have our health, our families, Isaiah ... material wise, we have a roof over a heads, a transporation system, and clothes ... God is so loving to us ... why should I ask for more?

i don't know why i'm so embarrassed to tell people what i want for christmas ... but i feel shy saying it ... but really, what i really want is for prayers for our families and for donations to be made to organizations such as The Mustard Seed (Calgary), BC Children's Wish Foundation (BC), CUPS (Calgary) or South Fraser Child Development Ctr (Surrey)

... so there you have it ... that's my personal christmas wish list ... something simple, but yet something so meaningful

Isaiah

I really miss Isaiah.

Everytime I think of him, I think of just hugging him ... and spending time with him. These past couple days I've been feeling a little sad b/c I'm so homesick for Isaiah.

The past 1/2 hour I've just been going through all his pictures ...

Whenever I'm home for a visit, I usually don't leave the house unless Isaiah is with us ... I try to soak up as much time as I can with him. Thank God my parents are really understanding b/c everytime one of them is carrying the baby, I grab Isaiah away from them ;)
Also my Kuya and Darleen are really sweet too b/c I always just walk right into their room to play with Isaiah or to just be in the same room with him.

I really miss Isaiah ...

Young Married's Christian Group.

JC and I joined a young Christian married group some time ago ... and I must say, it's such a blessing. Before JC and I got married, I was searching for a Christian group to join ... but I couldn't find one that I felt I had a good "fit" with ... and then we met and got married ... so we tried to join a Christian group together, but our schedules didn't mesh w/ the couples we were trying to join. So we tried again this year ... and wow, God led us to this amazing group.

We meet once a week where we read, discuss, share about the bible, different Christian studies, and our personal opinions, life experiences or thoughts. It is so uplifting ... every night when we go home, I'm so empowered, and feel so uplifted from the experience.

I am so thankful, and feel so blessed to have met the couples we have ... it's a joyful feeling when you surround your life with Christian friends ... I am so thankful for God leading us to this young married's group.

my biggest challenge at school

Writing is not one of my strongest skills ... I'm more the "talker" than "writer" ...

So writing papers this semester has been quite the challenge for me. I've been very blessed though b/c my husband takes the time to review my papers and helps me with my grammer, structure, flow and always lets me know that I need to "expand" and add more "examples".

I think the hardest part at going back to school was writing papers ... I'm not saying I am awful, but in my opinion, I'm not very good either. JC always says it's a learning experience and that I'm improving ... but still, it's quite the challenge for me. Sometimes, it takes me an hour just work on my introductory paragraph.

Next semester I have to take an english class ... yikes, more papers! I'm a little afraid of it, I don't know why b/c I did fairly well in english before ... maybe I'm just rusty and need more practice - although I don't want the practice ;)

I am so thankful for JC b/c although I know he is busy with work and our home, he always makes time for me and my school ... I shudder to think what would of happened if he did not review any of my previous papers!

Please continue to pray for me and my grades, I am really praying that God will guide me toward all A's in my courses for my program.

Prayer Requests.

So I was thinking that I would post "Prayer Requests" every so often ... sometimes they will be for myself and my family, or from other people that have requested for us to pray for them ... but of course I won't mention their names ;)

Feel free to email or comment me on any of requests for prayers ...

Psalm 66: 3,20
"Say to God, How awesome are your deeds!
So great is your power
that your enemies cringe before you"
"Praise be to God,
who has not rejected my prayer
or withheld his love from me!"

So here is my first blog of Prayer Requests:

- my Nanay who had a stroke a couple weeks ago
- for a friend whose Tatay is ill
- for a friends' co-worker who is waiting on test results if he/she has cancer
- for health of a friend(s)
- for A's in all my classes & for acceptance on the scholarships that I applied for
- for good health for family and friends
- for safe driving in the snow
- for career choices and job positions for friend(s)

Thank you for helping me pray for the above prayer requests ...

Laughing at Myself

I don't know why I do this ... but I do ...

Sometimes, my husband will be talking to me across the room and sometimes I have a hard time hearing him ... (maybe it's b/c of the radio or tv in the background) ... but what do I do to "help" me hear him?

I put on my eye glasses!

As if that's going to help me hear him! It only helps me "see" him but not "hear" him!

I laugh at myself everytime I catch myself doing this.

To JP ... who helped make it possible

JP and I, originally uploaded by jcandkim.

Although JP is my baby cousin, I look up to him for inspiration and support ... during some of my hardtimes in the past, he was the one who helped guide, support, inspire and make me laugh again

JP was also the one who help make it all possible for my husband and i to start talking ... yes, JP played cupid with JC and I ... and I am so thankful and feel so blessed b/c now I am married to my "love"

JP - I am so proud of the man you've become, and I admire your strength, determination, and your heart ... thank you for always being there for me and for our "big black box" ... I love you

I Feel So Sad

my parents left early this morning ...

last night and this morning, i could not stop crying ... my face is one big red puff ball ... i feel so sad ... and right now so lonely b/c my husband is at work, the boys are at work, i have no school ... just me, myself, and i ... with my red face full of tears!

i don't know why it's so hard on me this past year, maybe b/c they stay longer, and we spend so much time together ... my family and i are super close, so i guess that's why it's always so hard to part with them

it's amazing at how fast 3 weeks goes ...

but boy oh boy did we have fun ... we had meals out, family time, and watched movies all night long ... we even had a Band Of Brothers marathon - which was super fun!

i really miss my family, and i am so blessed to be able to see them as often as i have ... thank you God they are only an hour flight away ...

please pray for a safe and smooth travel for my parents

What a Week!

Last week was super busy for me ... I had 4 papers due plus an outline for my research essay ... luckily my quiz was cancelled ... by the time Friday rolled around I was dead tired and slept about 10 hours ... I guess I caught up on all the sleep I had missed writing all my papers during the week ;)

Anyways, we were able to squeeze in a date night ... my husband brought me to Chicago last week ... gosh I had forgotten how much I LOVE musicals! It was amazing ... the dancing ... the singing ... oh gosh! We had so much fun that we're keeping our eye out for the next musical ...

On a side note, my parents are leaving soon ... I'm starting to feel very sad b/c I know I won't see them until next year ... but I think I've been very spoiled to have them visit with me for as long as I have ... now I have to send them back to my Kuya ;)
