still sick.

yes, i'm still sick.

i caught some kind of cold on christmas eve and have been coughing ever since. my voice sounds raspy and very unsexy ;)

yesterday jc and i had "date day" ... we were only 15 minutes into our "date day" and i started throwing up in the car. not a great start to our day ;) and you know what i was thinking about as i was retching? "oh no my breakfast!" ... i had cooked a really yummy breakfast for the guys and i, and then i threw it all up. such a waste! but oh well, our date day turned out be really fun afterwards ...

i find it worse in the evenings, we've been trying all different cough medicines, but nothing is working. jc is very sweet b/c i'll wake up at least 2x's in a night just coughing up a lung .... he'll get my cough medicine or vicks ... aww how sweet. i feel bad b/c i wake him up with all my coughing, but he's so sweet taking care of me.

hopefully i'll get better soon ...

i survived!

yesterday i went to a pool hall with lots of smoke ... and i survived! i don't know if many of you know, but in the past few years i've become somewhat allergic to the smell of smoke. when i'm around it i want to throw-up, and on occasion i have. for example, after being in a club filled with smoke for less than 10 minutes - i did ... right in the heart of downtown calgary. yes, i know very impressive.

i know i really need to rebuild my resistance to the smell of smoke, so i had been trying to build it slowly. when i'm around the smell of smoke, i take small short breaths and try my hardest to control the urge to gag (which is the first thing i start doing when i smell smoke).

last night we went to a pool hall ... and i survived! jc and i were quite happy over that ... but we came out reaking like smoke. i had forgotten what it was like being in a place filled with smoke where all your clothes and hair smell. so as soon as i got home i jumped into the shower to get rid of the smell ...

well, now that jc and i know that i can endure smokey places again ... we're going out for wing night ... anyone want to come? woo-hoo!! time to celebrate ...

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!

This year was pretty low-key for us, but it was still lots of fun. We had a kids christmas party the week before and celebrated Christmas at JC's parents house ... with lots of food and laughter.

Above is a picture of our Christmas tree ... if you look closely you can see handmade ornaments made throughout the years ... some are made by the kids, and others by JC and I. When JC and I first met we knew that we wanted to get married, so we decided to start a tradition ... we would try to buy souvenirs or make souvenirs from the places we visit or meaningful moments in our lives so that we can put it on our Christmas tree. We have an ornament with our picture in Montreal, our save the date card from our wedding, 2 ornaments with our pictures from our wedding, an ornament from Prague, another from Banff and so on ... I thought it's a nice tradition and makes our Christmas tree more meaningful ...

On the Christmas day we went back to my in-laws house for more food ... and received a very sweet phone call from Christine. My whole family (my family, Faron's and Losanez's) were at Christine's house ... and Christine had the phone passed around so I can talk and greet all my family. I think if I was alone I would of cried as soon as I got off the phone after hearing all my family.

Anne-Marie asked me the other day how I was feeling about being away for Christmas, as this is the 2nd year I have ever spent away from my family during Christmas time. And I told her that I was okay ... b/c I have been so blessed to spend approx 20 years with the Faron's and Losanez' ... however, the part that does make me sad is that I am unable to spend more time with the babies - Lauryn, Isaiah and Tyson. They grow so fast, and sometimes I feel sad not to be there to witness their childhood ... but then again, I always remind myself that God has blessed me with living close enough that I can at least visit a couple times a year ... which is more than some people.

Well, I hope you all had a very joyous Christmas ... may our Lord bless you and keep safe from harm.

God bless, with love JC and Kim

PS
Congratulations to Allan and Hannah who were engaged on Christmas day!! Woo-Hoo!!!

just some random blogger thoughts

since my last exam, i have been running around like crazy ... working and getting items ready for christmas ... it's been insanely busy, but in a good way ... so onto some random blogger thoughts of mine ...

blogger thought #1
today i finished putting together 4 back packs filled with gifts for 4 youths in need. my mother-in-law and i had a long talk and i expressed to her how i feel about gifts for myself and that there are people with greater need than i ... so she decided to help me give some gifts to people in need. through lots of research i found that the age group most neglected during christmas was youths, so we put together 4 back packs (2 for girls, 2 for boys) and jc and i will deliver it tomorrow. hope they like it ;)

blogger thought #2
this is my second christmas living here in calgary ... as much as i miss my family (esp my isaiah) & friends ... i am extremely happy with my husband and our life together. i've been meeting a lot of various people, and they all ask me how i like calgary. i tell each of them the same thing, i'm happy here, and well, where ever my husband is ... i'm happy

blogger thought #3
the kids christmas party that jc and i held here at our house was tons of fun. we decorated our christmas stockings, made christmas ornaments, and christmas cards ... then sat down for some serious eating! yep, it's not even christmas yet, and i'm already full ;)

blogger thought #4
i have no thought #4 ... oh well! guess it's time for some baking! i'm baking some goodies to give away for christmas ... so here i go!

catch-up

... i finished my exams last week, so the day after my exam ... i slept and slept and slept ... and then over the weekend, i ate and ate and ate!

i think i'm well rested and well fed now ;)

now that i'm caught up on my sleep and food (well, i was never really lacking in the food area during my exams) ... i'm catching up on house, work and personal things that i haven't been able to do in awhile. i've got filing for work and home to do that i haven't done in months ... my office looks like something exploded in there, and my laundry is piled up ... and i still need to run out to get a few more extra christmas gifts ...

but first! i think i'm going to take a little nap before i get started ...

... one more left to go!

this morning i finished my 3rd exam ... i don't know why but i'm always one of the last ones to finish the exam ... but i figure i better re-check and re-check my work just in case

my exam wasn't as bad as i thought it would be ... thank you God! i was kind of nervous about it, but hopefully it will turn out okay ... i should know my final mark for my class tomorrow night ...

tonight i have a work christmas party ... i've been having a little worries here and there about transportation, but God willingly everything will work out for everyone ... we're all pretty excited ... i even bought a little santa hat to wear ... should be fun !!!

two down ...

second exam done!

this morning jc drove me to school for my 8am exam ... i was done by 8.25am ... when i called jc to pick me up he was surprised that i finished that quickly and then i told him that i was the third to the last one to leave the class!

tomorrow i have another 8am exam ... these last exams are the ones i'm most concerned about ... i prefer short answer, fill in the blanks and multiple choices, but these last two are essay format ... oh man ... i know i'll be using the full 2 hours for each of these ones ...

anyways, thank you Lord for good exams, please bless me as I write my last two ... please grant that i may receive A's on these exams and to finish my first semester back in school with an A average and a scholarship ... or two ;)

one down ...

yesterday morning i had my first final exam ... yes, on a saturday!

it went okay, the multiple choice part was a little harder than the midterm ... and i thought the stats part was a little silly ... well, esp b/c i didn't remember the % that they were asking for ... but i did nail the short answer & matching portion ... thank God! so God willingly i will receive an A on all my exams

tomorrow i have another exam at 8am again ... i actually prefer these ones b/c i can get it over and done with first thing in the morning, take a nap afterwards and then study for the next one.

after my last exam jc's going to bring me out for lunch as a celebration for completing my first semester ... umnn ... i'm already drooling with the thought of some sushi! (yes, i already picked the restaurant i want to go to!)

okay, enough blogging and back to the books i go!

Guest of Honor

A Reading from Our Daily Bread

In December 1903, after many attempts, the Wright brothers were successful in getting their "flying machine" off the ground. Thrilled, they telegraphed this message to their sister Katherine: "We have actually flown 120 feet. Will be home for Christmas."

Katherine hurried to the editor of the local newspaper and showed him the message. He glanced at it and said, "How nice. The boys will be home for Christmas." He totally missed the big news—man had flown!

Many people today make a similar mistake when they hear the word Christmas. They don't think of Jesus and His miraculous birth. Instead, they think of family gatherings, festive meals, decorations, and gifts. To them, Christmas brings nostalgia and memories of childhood.

Now, all this celebration isn't wrong. But if that's all that Christmas means to us, we are missing its true significance. The real meaning of this special day is summed up in the words of the angel to the shepherds on that night long ago: "I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:10-11).

That's the big news of Christmas! ... Richard De Haan

One day has left its mark in time
For all mankind to see;
It is the day when Christ was born
That day made history. D. De Haan

Don't celebrate Christmas without inviting the Guest of honor.

the blessing of eye sight

i've been noticing that i need to wear my glasses more often ... when i finally acknowledged it, i felt a little sad that my eyes had gotten worse & i am more dependent on my glasses

i'm actually a little self-conscious about wearing my glasses, but i try not to use my contacts anymore b/c it makes my eyes worse & b/c i have really dry eyes ... so i really only use my contacts 1x/week for church

however, every time i think about my eye sight, i always remember that i would rather wear these eye glasses than not have the blessing of sight at all. no matter how self-conscious i get, or how bad my eyes get, i always remind myself that this is better than nothing

i try not to complain or feel sad about my eyes ... i try to remind myself that God has blessed me with eye glasses/contacts to help me see ... some people cannot afford eye glasses/contacts or eye exams ... or even have eye sight, so for me to complain or feel sad does not seem right.

i am so happy that God has blessed me with aids to see and the ability to see ... thank you God!
