So for those of you who didn't know ... on Monday it was -49 degrees (with the wind chill). My front door and all my windows were covered with ice ... INSIDE. So what do you think happened to my curtains when the ice started to melt? They stained. My brand new (custom made!) curtains.
*sigh*
I didn't even know there was ice on the windows until they started to melt ... by that time, it had already stained our curtains. So off to the dry cleaners they went ... the bill is not a pretty sight - but worth it.
Next, this afternoon my mom found a leak downstairs. At first I thought it was just more ice melting ... until I saw how fast the water was coming in through the light switch and a crack on the basement floor. She said that it had to be a burst pipe b/c of the constant gush of water. So I turned off the main water valve (with the instructions of my husband) ... and my father-in-law and a plumber came to fix the broken pipe. But we were without any water for about 9 hours.
Thank God for my mom b/c I'm not sure I would have even caught the broken pipe for another couple hours!
Also, JC's truck hasn't been able to start since Sunday b/c of the extreme cold ... so he's been using the pilot - thank God that one still works :)
*sigh*
It's been an interesting (and expensive) couple of days ...

Last night we had our farewell dinner for Wayne and Angie ... and I swear I almost broke down and sobbed like a baby ... okay, not exactly like that ... but close to it.
We had such a wonderful time, but it was sad knowing it was the last time in a long time that we were all going to be together in the same room.
Although I am super excited and happy for them that they are starting a new chapter in their lives in Coquitlam (which I love by the way!) ... I do feel sad that we won't be seeing them as often. However, we're in BC quite often - so at least we'll be able to visit with them at least once a year!
Man, soon we'll be having another farewell dinner for Carlie, Sheldon and Alissa ... goodness, our group is getting smaller and smaller!! I think I'll stop this post b/c I'm going to crawl in a corner and sob now.
Okay, not really :)

Brandon (3 Months)
Alissa (6 Months)
Max and Ella (9 Months)
... this is my favourite photo of our children ... Eli's asleep and Alissa is tugging on Brandon's ear :) How adorable is this picture?
This picture was taken yesterday during Eli's baby shower with our friends ... it was a celebration of many things: Eli's birth, Alissa 6 month, Sheldon's leave, Angie's birthday, and Wayne & Angie's big move (which we will be getting together one more time). So much to celebrate!

(0) commentsLast week we were surprised with news from a couple of our close friends. They were moving! And both to B.C!! One couple is leaving in a few weeks to move to Coquitlam, and the other couple is moving sometime soon to Kelowna.
Oh man, when I heard about their exciting news, I went from shock to excitement (for them) to sadness (b/c they were leaving) ... all I could say was, "wow!" As excited as I am for this new chapter in their lives ... I must be honest though, the more that I think about them leaving, my heart just sinks and i want to cry. How I'm going to miss them!
In the past few years that we've know our bible study group, we've been through so much and had so many fond memories ... such as late night in pj's at our house, bible studies in pj's (i love'd that!), dinners out, risk/xbox nights, and of course "real" camping ... just to name a few. This close group of friends was an answer to our prayers ... and to see our group grow closer and closer throughout the years has been such a blessing.
We truly have been through so much together, and I believe what bonds us so close together is our faith in our Lord God and how we pray and study together as friends. I'm going to miss our spiritual journey together ... but I thank God for giving us such good friends to build a strong foundation upon.
I'm going to miss them so much ...
Thank you God for your blessings ... please bless our friends with your love, guidance, and protection as they start a new chapter in their lives in B.C.

There is something precious about watching your husband hold your daughter. When I watch JC with Eli ... my heart just melts ... and I thank God for blessing me with such a wonderful family.
From the moment Eli was born, she had JC wrapped around her little finger. She is daddy's little girl ... there's a bond between a father and daughter that is so unique and so loving.
That being said ... watching my own father with my daughter brings such joy to my heart. Eli is the first granddaughter for my parents, and you can already see how she has my parents wrapped around her other little finger ;)
At night (on the nights when JC works the following day) - my dad watches Eli for me in between feedings so that I sleep. Right now I can hear him singing to Eli ... it seemed to have calmed her b/c she's no longer crying.
I love that my dad is bonding with my daughter ... I've been blessed with my dad ... and yes, i'm a daddy's girl too ... just like Eli is with JC.

Well, school is suppose to start next week ... but like I mentioned before, I've decided to take a year off to spend with my husband and baby. The more I think about it, the more I am thankful for my decision. I was going to take an on-line course ... but after much thought, i decided against that as well.
I am so thankful that I have more time with JC and Eli.
As for work, well, since I'm not taking maternity leave (JC will be taking paternity in a few months) ... it's quite interesting. I have to time my meetings around the baby ... for example, today I had planned to have a meeting, but everytime I got ready to leave, I couldn't ... so I ended up staying home and having the meeting late at night when Eli was more settled. I'm thankful that my work is flexible that most of the time I can work my schedule around Eli ... or otherwise I can always bring her with me.
Also, it's amazing that since I'm no longer in school, I have much more time to blog! Well, also I guess b/c I'm up all night with Eli ... so what else is there to do? Well, other than facebook.
