what i miss about surrey ... what i love about calgary

Ah ... Surrey ... now what are some of the things that I miss? Well, of course my family and friends! But other than that ... here's just a "few" things:

- Aling Mary's Pandesol
- New Town's Saipo
- Stepho's

Um ... I'm sensing a theme here :) Okay really, other than "food" ... I also miss ...

- Richmond Night Market
- Being only 5 minutes away from my friends (now it's an hour flight!)
- Family dinners
- White Rock beach (esp. the milk shakes ... Daryeen/Kuya - you know which one is JC's favourite!)

Now, here are some things that I love about Calgary:

- Pho Kim
- Towa Sushi
- Falafel King

... oh, is there another theme happening? Just kidding ... okay other than food ...

- my husband and our family of course!!!!
- our friends
- less traffic
- i enjoy winter here ... except when i have to drive in the snow
- our church and our church group

My oh my, I think the list can go on and on. But really, what i love most is my husband.

He is the greatest blessing in my life ...

A Random Blog Entry.

Wow, where has the summer gone? I am so thankful that I did not pick up any summer courses b/c my oh my, our summer has been so busy.

Unfortunately, we were unable to go home to visit Surrey ... but many Surrey folks came to visit! Alona and Jay, the Palma's, the Faron's, Jason, and my parents ... as well as some family friends from the States ... and summer is not yet done ... we still have more family and friends coming in the next few weeks :) It has been so much fun going out to eat, sight seeing ... and most of all spending time with one another.

Isn't it amazing at how fast time flies? I can still remember walking down the hallways at Holy Cross ... or even playing in the playground at IC Delta. Now look at us! Many of us are either married or getting married ... some of us even have children!

Oh wow, where has the time gone?

Next thing we know we'll be attending Isaiah, Tyson, and Lauryn's wedding!

Oh my oh my.

Welcome to a new game on our blog.

From time to time I will be posting pictures or stealing ("or borrowing") ones from your websites, friendster, myspace etc (i figure if it's on the web, it's all fair game) ... and as readers of our blog you need to try and guess who is in the photo.

Here's my first one. Guess the name of the couple ...

Answers will be posted in a few days ...

A Prayer Request.

I have been watching the news since 7.30 a.m ... been switching between CNN and CBC, plus checking various news websites. After a few hours I needed to leave the house to get my mind off of the disturbing news and to get some work done.

When I came home, I tried to do some paperwork but I had the tv news blaring in the background. This did not ease my anxious feeling. I finally took a hold of myself ... and told myself to pray. I then reached for my bible and searched for the passage that I find comfort in:

Psalm 91
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."

3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you make the Most High your dwelling
even the LORD, who is my refuge

10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."

I feel comfort in this bible passage and in the knowledge that our Lord God is with us. My heart has been lifted and my worries have been placed at the feet of the cross. Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice and your love for us.

Please pray with me today and always for our Lord God's refuge that no harm shall fall on His children.

Trip Down Memory Lane.

Today I was thinking about our honeymoon in Italy 2 years ago ... so I thought maybe I'd bring y'all faithful readers down memory lane with me ...

Rome
Just look at the beauty of Rome ... I cannot believe some of these buildings are still standing!

Rome
My handsome husband outside our apartment

Rome
Love and I were walking around in the Vatican ... and I saw him in the distance ... so I crouched down onto the floor and snapped this picture of him. When he first saw it later that night, he was impressed with the use of light in the picture ... he didn't even know it was him!
I love this picture.

Florence
My husband likes to climb on bridges and dangle there while we are on vacation so he can take pictures. Now, of course it freaks me out each and everytime, and normally I am holding onto one of his legs (as the other one dangles above the water) ... but when I saw the light and the potential picture I ran to snap a picture ... and then ran right back to hold onto his leg again :)

Florence
This is one of the very few pictures we have together during our honeymoon, and it is one of my favourites. Just look at the view!

Venice
We would walk 45 minutes just for this pizza place ... oh and trust me, it was well worth the walk! We also discovered a very yummy pastry and gelato store too!

Venice
In the middle of San Marco Square ... Love is feeding the pigeons ... and I think this particular pigeon just pecked my husband. I love the look of JC in this picture.

Venice
This is one of my first pictures taken when we arrived in Venice ... ah the beauty of Venice

I cannot believe this was two years ago ... I have been so blessed by my Lord God for his wonderful love ... thank you God for the gift of my husband and helping us make you the centre of our marriage.

Hello Blogger World.

So what is new in our world? Not too much ... just winding down before summer ends and back to school i go. My husband bought a new toy yesterday ... and toy accessory just this afternoon ... I'm super happy for him b/c it's been his dream for 10 years. And well, it's well deserved so I am so happy that he finally purchased it. Curious what it is? Well, y'all gonna have to wait till he writes about it :)

The past few weeks have been busy with our family from Surrey visiting ... and of course, me drooling all over Tyson :) I must admit, my godchildren are super good looking!

By the way, for those of you who haven't heard the BIG news, Isaiah is going to be a Kuya ... so big congratulations to my Kuya and Daryeen. Here's a picture of the new family member from Isaiah's website:

"tanks por da moments we shared"

Well, after five days of eating and playing with baby Palma ... it's back to exercise ... well, not really "back" ... more like a necessity!! Everyday we went out to eat as if it was our last ... but my oh my was it yummy!!!!

I had five wonderful days with my godson and his parents. It was also my first time going to a spa here in Calgary ... and my first girls day out! It was so nice to be able to spend time with Anne-Marie and to be able to talk and talk ... and eat and eat.

Hopefully this will be a yearly visit for the Palma family ... Ron - by next year we'll have more restaurants to hit ... so get ready!!! Also, make sure you have room in your freezer during my next visit ... I think I hear CoCo Brooks calling your name ...

Below is a picture of two adorable men that I love very much ...
