When I use to live in Surrey, our family always celebrated special occasions with the Faron's and Losanez's. When I was younger, one of my favourite memories were Sunday's ... b/c it was "Family Day" ... we would go to church and then for dinner/lunch we would always be with the Faron's and Losanez's.
When we got older, it was the kids and not the adults putting the special occasions together. We would plan our parents birthday parties, cook meals for Father's/Mother's day and arrange dinner get together's.
Now that I'm living in Calgary, I'm trying to keep that tradition. This afternoon I cooked up a storm and put together a luncheon for Mother's Day ... we celebrated it with JC's family and our Ninang Merly's family.
After the lunch, the kids put on a little "skit" for JC's mom, Ninang Merly and Nanay ... it was priceless!!
Although I miss my traditions back home, I'm thankful that JC doesn't mind that I bring the Mangalindan/Losanez/Faron traditions into our family as well.
Now our traditions will be carried on not only back home, but here too ...
